Completely FUBARed

I've bought many modern skirmish rules over the years, and of course downloaded a lot of free stuff from the internet.

That said, I'd probably downloaded the FUBAR rules before, without actually paying them much attention.

Having now read this 'one pager', I see a lot of things that are exciting for a set of skirmish rules; things that make more sense than force on force, or don't have the 'slowing' effects of arc of fire.

There's a wonderful activation system based on troop quality, which also neatly allows for loss of unit effectiveness based on inherent training and quality. There are 6mm, sci-fi and even medieval variants.

We'll be trying these rules soon...some WWII action I think.

  1. Hey, nice blog. I just noticed that you added my site Missiles in Managua to your blog list, and I wanted to say thanks a lot! I played FUBAR for a while and liked it. I didn't find it very fun for solo play though, and then I discovered Two Hour Wargames, which is all I play now.

    1. Thanks Scott. Your blog is one of the best I've seen and your scenarios are very inspirational. I hope you don't mind me borrowing some ideas sometime :)

  3. You know, I've heard about FUBAR many times. I just downloaded them and like the look of them. I'll watch for any AAR's here.

    1. Yes, and there many variants too. There should be time this weekend to get the game done and on the blog.

A certain little action around Brecourt Manor involving some 105s...
