In a vain attempt to get a post by the end of the month (cutting it fine I know), I present: 'Games that we have set up but not played yet' :
Hobkirk's Hill, using the AWI version of Fire & Fury (there is such a thing online, but I'm not sure about the links). So, big battalions, considering it's 25mm in this instance, and this is a mid-week sub for our normal D&D game.
'Surely not more AWI?' I hear you cry, but we are on an eternal quest here for the perfect set of American Revolution rules (I know Field of Battle is the answer, but no one else agrees - shock!)
American double/reinforced line |
lovely, lovely labels |
British extended and skirmish line |
Bloody big hills. |
And secondly, a blatant attempt at throwing enough 1/300 material at the table, in the vain hope that there might be a Modern Spearhead scenario emerging ...watch this space...
Made it just under the wire…
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of end of the month tech sales reports at work...
DeleteLoose Files is the answer….😁
ReplyDeleteYou may have a point there.
DeleteYep, FoB is the answer! :-)
ReplyDeleteFoB is the game I like most - it's so like a battle.
DeleteField Of Battle is indeed the answer. Have you lot tried new Cold War Commander yet ?
ReplyDeleteJust got it.
DeleteOf course my initial take is that where the 2d6 activation 'doesn't ' work for Black Powder , it is highly relevant to the 'fast moving' chaos of the modern battlefield - where a little bit of extra command prowess can make a huge difference.
For an entire brigade not to move in BP over a period of turns in 1745 is ridiculous. For units to be confused and lose the initiative in W.Germany in 1984 - spot on.
...and relax.
Being able to potentially activate same formation more than once is different to BP. Still a sort of 'buckets of dice' system when it comes to combat for better or worse. Been awhile since I played the BKC system.
DeleteRight. Only thing that bothers me now, is its GW heritage.
