Still very busy, so no new games...so in order to fill space, a smattering of old pics from the 20mm games completed across the last 7 or 8 years of the blog - old 20mm plastics still great (where does the time go?).
And yes - I'm repeating old pics now, so things must be desperate LOL..
A game from 2014 - Snappy Nappy at Waterloo/Wavre |
From the 2-day Arnhem battle |
Steiner's boys defending Ponyri in 2019 during Steve's excellent Kursk campaign |
some..ancients, no less |
Market Garden action - Sept 18 - with Command Decision |
Ardennes with FoB - and explosions! |
Vietnam taster |
ACW with FoB - Aug 19 |
FoB WW2 |
This was 'Five men in Normandy' - though one bloke here... |
Some 'Field of Battle WW2' in Tunisia - from a few years back. |
First look at 'Crossfire' in 20mm - really must revisit these rules. |
20mm ACW with 'Field of Battle' |
More FoBWW2 - Ardennes classic |
Final scenes from the Arnhem game, during last year's lockdown |
Bekaa valley action with 7D |
Punic Wars in 20mm with 'Age of Hannibal' - again, this needs more attention. |
Soviet Hordes in 'Iron Cross'. |
Feb 2019 (remember it well!!) - Khe Sanh with 'FOB' |
Another Vietnam game from 2015 I think. |
A very old Waterloo game, done at the birth of the blog, with Snappy Nappy - great game if I recall. |
...must...do ...more ...gaming. I can't possibly continue rehashing old pics like this :) The Wargaming Blog Police are after me already !!! It reminds me of when Kiss used to re-hash old tracks for new albums...of course, people would still buy them ...
Lovely shots, I wish the hard plastics revolution had been in 20mm and 1/72 rather than the 28mm that we got!
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm - I had to get something on the blog :) even if it's rehashed.
DeleteI agree - there's something about the scale that I love - I guess it's nostalgia for the Airfix days to an extent, when we were kids in the 70s/80s.
I bought a few Warrior Miniatures true 25s recently - and they are compatible with modern plastics, and very old school, and toy-soldier style - really opened my eyes to the old school possibilities. As you say, if 20mm had remained a thing, wargaming would be in a very different (and arguably better) place.
A nice selection of 20mm games.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter - best to get something out there I thought. Didn't realise I had so many old pics, so maybe worth it after all.
DeleteCheers Darren, an excellent trip down memory lane!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve - seeing some of the old Ponyri pics again - I must put up a few more of the epic campaign actually.
DeleteOldies but Goodies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan.
DeleteI need to be dedicated if I ever wanted to get to the number of posts you have sir.
Must...strive...to..do...better :)
I enjoyed the pics. Looks like a nice history of gaming. 😀
ReplyDeleteThough it is a tricky question; what to do with a wargaming blog when one is not doing any wargaming? I don’t have a good answer either.
Very true sir. I must get a game in - even if a solo. If I get to the stage where I am doing '6mm across the ages' and '25mm across the ages', with old pics re-hashed, then the blog is lost forever :)
DeleteWonderful looking photos/games and in 20 mm - 1/72, my favourite kind!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thank you James. I had no idea how much crap I had on my hard drive :)
DeleteBut yes - God's own scale I reckon.
Great collection Darren, very impressive! Looking forward to seeing what you get up to next.
ReplyDeleteV/R,
Jack
Anything Jack - I can't be re-hashing old pics all the time :))) HEEEEE
DeleteA clever stalling tactic, though ;)
