| Medieval towers, one with a dodgy foundation |
Founded by the Etruscans (though built upon an older settlement), and bombed as a German supply depot during the war, Bologne also has distinctive towers from the medieval period. As a prelude to Ferrari museums which would follow the next day, it also has, quite remarkably amazing 'food', which defies description! (sooo good).

Many years ago we stayed with my brother-in-law just outside Ferrara (sadly he now lives in the UK). Bologna is the nearest big city so we spent a few days there. Beautiful! Would love to go back......

DeleteFascinating tour of Bologna. We have yet to reach this part of Italy. Maybe someday. Is it a coincidence that my browser 's screensaver came up with a photo of the Piazza Maggiore Square after having visited this post? I think not!
